If you're ever in San Francisco, you must visit Tartine Bakery.

Baker Chad Robertson and his wife Pastry Chef Elisabeth Prueitt trained and travlled France before opening Tartine Bakery in 2002. Since then, Chad's bread-making expertise has been recognized by 3-star Michelin chef Alain Ducasse in his book Harvesting Excellence.

In the middle of the Mission district, Tartine is only a few steps away from quirky Dolores Park where you can enjoy a picnic under the sun. Drool over the display and imagine what you want to order as you wait in Tartine's long lines!

Definitely try one of their Morning Buns, Tartine's seasonal Bread Pudding, or the Banana Cream Tart. If you feel like something savory, choose the Croque Monsieur or one of the 10 hot pressed sandwiches they offer starting at 11:30 am. Warm fresh loaves are offered starting at 4:30 pm every day.

As one baker puts it, "you have to try Chad's bread at least once before you die."
