FEATURING

Oren's Hummus Shop brings authentic flavors from Israel to the hummus lovers of Palo Alto. The brightly lit, airy shop brings together a diverse range of people, creating a small community. Oren's provides the rich flavors of freshly baked hummus, falafel, kebabs, and babaganush, served with warm homemade pita bread - creating the perfect meal.

Israeli cuisine is a melting pot of foods and recipes developed and brought by the Jews. This unique cuisine adapts various styles of Jewish cooking as well as foods traditionally eaten in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries - including hummus, falafel, kebab, and the famous 'Israeli salad'.

Oren Dobronsky, a technologist with 4 successful start-ups under his belt was drawn to the Silicon Valley, the epicenter of today’s technology innovations.

Life in the valley was good, but one thing was missing: a big plate of creamy Hummus like back home in Tel Aviv, with fresh Pita & Mediterranean salads.

A true entrepreneur, Oren decided to take matters into his own hands. With the help of his wife Nancy, an experienced restaurateur, the couple opened Oren’s Hummus an authentic Israeli restaurant.

Customs

Israeli breakfast is composed of salads, cheeses, olives, and distinctive Israeli breads. Lunch is the principal meal of the day while evening meals are light, consisting mostly of dairy products, salads, and eggs.

Bread is a staple of Israeli cuisine and is served as part of every meal.

Many Israeli restaurants serve Kosher foods, a part of many Israelis' food consciousness. These dietary laws from the Bible forbid eating pork, rabbit, and shellfish and dictate the proper methods of slaughter of other animals. Cooking is also not permitted on the Sabbath, the day of rest.
